CNN Top 50 Beach Bar’s
We stumbled across this old list of the World’s Top 50 Beach Bars according to CNN. At Next Stop Coconut we’re all about beach bars, but forgive us if we were a little bit weary of CNN’s reviewers. After all, when you picture your ultimate beach bar experience we’re guessing it doesn’t include sunbathing with Dr Sanjay Gupta or painkillers with Wolf Blitzer right? Right. Regardless, we decided to check it out and there were definitely some notable mentions. We like #8.
8. Soggy Dollar Bar (Jost Van Dyke, British Virgin Islands)
Coming in at #8 is one of our favorite bars on the planet, Jost Van Dyke’s Soggy Dollar Bar. This little gem is seemingly in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by pristine water, affluent sailors and day-trippers from surrounding islands. Soggy Dollar Bar claims to be the home of the original painkiller cocktail, a delicious blend of Pusser’s Rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, cream of coconut and a generous amount of fresh nutmeg. The line’s are sometimes long, the “selfies” are always fierce but the experience is priceless.
